Job Vacancy: Youth and Children's worker at St Andrew’s Church Hove

Updated: Oct 8

We are looking for a youth and children’s worker with an active faith in Jesus who wants to use their God-given talents and abilities to help our young people as they grow and flourish on their Christian journey.

St Andrew’s Hove is a medium-sized Anglican church full of life, located close to the city of Brighton and a stone's throw from the sea. Our mission is to Love God and Love Hove. We have a thriving youth group, busy Sunday morning children’s groups, children’s choir and an excellent relationship with our linked primary school.

In partnership with a vicar (who was also once a Youth and Families worker) and a team of qualified and enthusiastic volunteers, you will help provide dynamic, varied and engaging children’s work in both church and community contexts, helping guide and support children aged 0 to 18 as they explore their faith in Jesus and grow in love for those around them.

As well as experience of working with children and young people in a church or community setting, you will ideally have good pastoral skills and a solid knowledge of how to apply Biblical truths to everyday life. Other than that, we are interested to see how your particular gifts can shape the role and grow our children & young people! Are you crafty? Musical? Love drama? Sporty? Have brilliant ideas for silly games or excellent organisational skills? All of these are attributes that could be a blessing to our church family. The most important thing to us will be that you love our kids and love God, and we are committed to excellent on-boarding and ongoing support to help you do just that to the best of your ability.

There is an occupational requirement that the post holder is a committed Christian in accordance with Part 1 of Schedule 9 of the Equality Act 2010. The post is subject to an enhanced DBS check, pre-employment references and a 6 month probationary period. The Full Time Equivalent Salary is listed below and the salary is dependent on levels of experience and qualifications.

Please send the completed application form along with any supplementary documents to youth@standrewshove.org

Closing date for applications: Monday 4th November, 2024

Start date: Negotiable

Job Type: Part time hours 18-21 per week to include Wednesday, Thursday, Sunday and occasional Saturdays. Term Time Only negotiable. FTE salary £26,000 - 30,000 dependent on qualifications.
